Why Don't Women Ask for Help?

May 15, 2020

In the last few weeks, how many of you held up that white flag and proclaimed “SOS! I can’t do this by myself anymore!?”

And how many of you held back because… didn’t want to be seen as weak? didn’t want to bother anyone else? felt afraid of letting go and delegating tasks?

Chances are you’d be more than happy to help out a friend or colleague if they asked you for a favor. But so few women actually ask, and instead try to do everything by themselves.

Why do we carry so much pride in getting to the finish line alone?

Why do we carry such a stigma of shame around asking for help?

We can’t seem to accept someone’s perception that we can’t do it all.. Especially when we see our female counterparts all around us tackle everything with ease (all lies...thanks, social media.)

Somewhere along the line (maybe it wove itself into our DNA over the generations?) we’ve equated asking for help with failure...

The Courage to Share it All

Mar 22, 2020

I’m reading a book that makes me cry.

Big, soul drenched tears.

It does so because it’s about me (and some of you), even when it’s not.

It’s reminding me why I was indoctrinated to leave my gifts behind.

It’s reminding me that even as a child I ultimately made the choice to do so, and society didn’t provide another option.

It’s reminding me that as an adult I also have the choice to continue to find my way back.

Back to the feelings.

The truth.

The calling.

Yesterday I felt the weight of society pulling me back down to my formerly assumed identity.

In these uncertain times I felt compelled to let people know they have permission to feel the melancholy along with the hope.

For hope will never have it’s true power without truly feeling and experiencing opposite emotions.

I wanted to highlight the permission because I’m not too proud to admit I had felt...

The Key to Practice Growth that No One Ever Talks About (TACTICAL TIP)

Mar 01, 2020

This microblog today is brought to you by a key to practice growth that seriously no one ever talks about…

There are so many things in practice that need to be done on repeat in order to create success.

One of the biggest things?

Communicating the big picture.

The ADIO message.

The why behind detecting and correcting subluxations.

In the past year, I have spent a lot of time thinking about this concept as I have led 50+ coaching clients towards practice growth.

I am constantly analyzing what systems/procedures and structure I have put in place in my practice so I can relay the WHY behind each and every strategy.

One of the biggest things we scrutinized in my practice over the past year was our ability to communicate the chiropractic message to our existing patients in many new and inventive ways.

In early 2019 this led us to implementing a “Question of the Week” in our practice.

My 4 KEY Takeaways from Kate Northrup's Mastermind

Feb 15, 2020

I’m still pinching myself over the life-changing experience that was Kate Northrup’s Origin mastermind this week. I had the privilege to be included in an intimate group of women, all committed to pushing each other to continue to step into our greatness in business and in life.

I would be remiss if I didn’t take time to share my 4 biggest takeaways from this transformative event with my OG lady tribe here on the blog. Enjoy!

1. Intentionally creating space for yourself

I talk about this with the Illuminated Squad quite often, actually. But you know the whole “practice what you preach” thing? This is one where I definitely need to put my money where my mouth is. And the last few days threw a huge spotlight on it. For the first time in a long time, I had space to actually THINK. About my business, about my life, about wherever my mind wandered to. And I came to some conclusions about my biz that I honestly wouldn’t have if I...

The Top 3 lessons I learned in 2019 that made it my best. year. yet.

Dec 27, 2019

As I sit here a few days after my favorite holiday in my “Cup of Cheer” jammies staring at my beautiful buffalo plaid and burlap tree… it’s hard to not think about the wonder that was 2019.

12 months ago I had absolutely ZERO idea I would end up here right now.

I had an entirely different life planned and, to be honest, I thought I needed to settle for that.

Settle for things being hard.  So hard (inside my head) that I spent countless hours talking to my brilliant therapist about why I chose to make the decisions that kept things that way.

2019 had a different plan for me. God had a different plan.  The Universe knew things should be different….whatever you believe in.  Karma hit me H A R D this year, and not by luck, by so much damn intentional hard work I had a freakin’ stockpile of good karma coming my way.

When I woke up this morning I was thinking about all of you.  What could I say that would actually help...

You (Yes, You) Should Hire a Team Member Before Youโ€™re Ready

Dec 11, 2019

Yes, I’m talking to you with this blog. Even you should hire a team member before you feel like you’re ready. It can feel scary, I know. I’ve been there. But when you’re looking to expand your practice, you’ll need to hire help. No one can do it all on their own, not even you, my friend.

Think about some of the not-so-fun parts of your business that have to get done: phone calls, checking patients in and out of the office, financial tasks, the joyful admin stuff. Imagine passing that along to a chiropractic assistant.

Whether you’re considering bringing on your first team member or your fifth, please keep reading. This applies to you no matter where you are in your business. Hiring someone for your practice will help you continue to grow, and keeping that momentum up and moving is critical for a successful practice.

“But I’m Not Ready”

You might not feel ready to bring on that next amazing addition to your team, but you...

Getting Out of the Blues: Your Three-Step Guide to Getting Back on Track

Nov 26, 2019

When it gets to be winter here in Wisconsin, there’s plenty of snow around. And there’s no shortage of short, freezing, dark days that make you want to curl up on your couch with your favorite fuzzy socks and blankie and pretend the world doesn’t exist anymore.

I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. Those days where you just feel like you need a cup of warm apple cider or coffee or hot chocolate, a great book or your favorite binge-worthy Netflix series, and a couple of days of alone time!

While these days might sound nice in theory, they can quickly become overwhelming, especially when you think of everything you “should” be doing instead. I feel this often in the winter, but this year it hit me HARD and it hit me EARLY.

My body and energy told me I needed rest…but then my mind immediately processed that with panic as my productivity almost disappeared. My thoughts created such intense emotions of “not...

Constructing a Community Talk to Get Results, Part One: The Framework

Sep 04, 2019

Public speaking can be one of the best ways to get your name into the community. Not only will you get to meet more people and form real connections, but you’ll also be able to serve them by offering valuable information.

You might be thinking, though, “But Krysti, I don’t know how to give a talk!”

Before you go running for the hills, hear me out! I’ve given countless talks over the past 12 years throughout my chiropractic career, and I’ve given many more as a public speaker within the industry to other doctors, chiropractic assistants and other key audiences. I want to share some of my insider tips with you because I know speaking can help your business grow.

We’re starting in this first post of the series by giving you a framework you can apply to any type of talk. You could use this for potential patients or maybe another type of audience (even an audience or topic outside of chiropractic) to make an impact in your community. Next week...

Why Females Struggle with Male Coaching

Aug 21, 2019

Sounds controversial, right? Believe me, it doesn’t have to be. Think back for a minute to any part of your schooling. Did the guys in your class learn differently from the ladies? Chances are, they probably did.

An important note: I am NOT saying that men or women have to learn different things, have to achieve different things or are otherwise unequal. I do, however, believe that men and women learn differently from one another, and science supports this: our brains are wired differently. Got it? Okay, let’s go!

Men Are Like Waffles

If you’ve ever listened to a man faced with a problem, you’ve probably overheard one of these  or some variation:

“Just tough it out.”

“Push through it.”

“Man up.”

Sound familiar? I thought so. Men often choose to power through a tough situation, whether it’s a pile of work or a challenging puzzle, without really giving it much thought. While women certainly can power through tough...

The 3 Non-Negotiable and Innate Characteristics of a Powerhouse CA

Jul 05, 2019

In 12 years of practice, I have had a total of 24 employees.  With 4 of them still with me, that means 20 people have come and gone for various reasons.

I know this number for a fact because I recently had to run a report from our payroll system to update some insurance documents.

Every June I run the report and I look at the names that have served River Shores Chiropractic.

I’ll be the first to admit that I haven’t always been the best leader and it will always remain one of the things I actively work on (if you are a team leader, this should always be on your radar too!)

In the past, I had no idea how to hire the right people, let alone train them.

But over the past 4 years or so I became crystal clear on my mission and I began to craft my own unique leadership style.

How long your team has been there is not necessarily a badge of honor...

We have all heard so many people in Chiropractic use longevity of team members as one of the hallmark signs of a...
